Bridging the gap: The world we live in is fascinated by dualistic mindset. We try to discriminate everything and everyone in either black or white. So we have discrimination among religions, sexes, castes, color, money, status etc. At the deeper level we are one and connected as human beings but these discriminations crop up when mind becomes the dominant factor. The discriminations are at the superficial level and many of our religious leaders and politicians use these to cater to their own selfish desires. We Indians have been the victim of Divide and Rule policy, but have we learnt from it? Or are we still promoting it? God has not made human beings one nor any animals or plants of one nature and characteristics because the intention is that we should all complement and supplement for each other strengths and weakness and live in harmony. But we have misunderstood the purposes of these differences and are using them to pitch ourselves one against other. UI World Vision 2030 is a vision that dreams to bridge this gap by subduing the mind at its right place and when we realize that we are Consciousness we will use our discrimination for the right purposes. We will live in a world that Martin Luther King Jr. described in his famous speech. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Friends to sum up let’s return to the story of the sculptor where we started. Today the rock has rough edges; it is nowhere near the beautiful horse the sculptor saw. UI Vision 2030 is Vision that sees this whole Universe, mankind and nature living in harmony. It seems to be a fantasy at the first look but if we take the chisel and hammer and start the hewing with ourselves, the dream won’t be a distant fantasy but a present reality!

Innovation and Change: Everything around us is in state of flux. “You cannot step twice into the same river” Yesterday’s pens and typewriters give way to today’s computers, and we don’t know what today’s computers will pave the way for in the future. This change around us also demands change within us. We have a new world that is evolving and the new world comes with new challenges. We need to adapt ourselves to these changes by being creative. Scientists tell us how the huge dinosaurs could not survive because they could not adapt to changes in the environment around them. We need to constantly reinvent ourselves to survive even in our daily lives. The mind is a repository of the past events, it reminds us to do the same thing over and over again. When we are connected to the Consciousness, we get new ideas; we become creative and can innovate intelligently. UI World Vision 2030 aims at bringing about this innovation and change in our personal lives.

Pollution and Wild Life: In a world where the mind is dominant we have a giant problem of pollution to deal with. It is greatly summed up in these lines by John Drinkwater: When you defile the pleasant streams/ And the wild bird’s abiding place/ You massacre a million dreams/ And cast your spittle in God’s face. We regularly hear about a Ship tanker carrying oil, goes down in the sea casting millions of gallons of oil in the sea water, causing danger to life. We are fresh with the memories of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy here in India. All these examples mentioned are some of the causes of the universe which is run by the dominant mind. In our selfishness, we never think twice before we destroy the environment. UI World Vision 2030 will help us to reconnect to our real selves. It will remind us what Gandhi said, “There is sufficiency in the world for man’s need but not for man’s greed.”

Science and Technology: We all have written an essay in our school days, “Science, is it a bane or a boon” Why? Science and Technology has benefitted humankind in innumerable ways but it has also been a cause of unprecedented destruction. On one hand the mind that leads us to produce nuclear energy also leads us to create nuclear weapons. Abraham Lincoln described this plight intelligently when he said, “We have guided missiles but misguided people” UI World Vision 2030 aims at having people who are not misguided by the dominant mind but rightly guided by the Consciousness. Once we have such leaders, the role of Science and Technology would become creative and not destructive.

Natural and renewable energy: One day a lark struck a deal with a farmer who used to everyday carry some peanuts through the jungle. The lark said that he would give him a single feather in return of some peanuts to fill his stomach. The farmer agreed and the lark was happy that he did not have to go in search of food. But a day came when the lark was left with no feathers on its body and it died soon. We see the same story around when we use energy; we use it without a thought of renewing it. This is the play of the mind, which tells us to greedily consume energy for ourselves. We are already facing consequences where energy sources like crude oil is getting depleted and the prices of oil are sky rocketing. A day will come when like the lark we will be left without any energy at our disposal. Being Universally Intelligence teaches us to use energy judiciously, use of natural and renewable energy.

Organic Agriculture: Conventional farming which relies heavily on chemical fertilizers and toxic pesticides, seems to go by the motto, “Live and let die”. The consequences are lethal as it is harmful to human health as they penetrate our food supply or even the water; it also endangers the life of livestock and depletes the soil by devastating the ecosystem. This is what happens in a world where the mind dominates. It makes one parasite, we thrive at the expense of someone of something else but we don’t realize that ultimately in the long run we too will perish. When we are connected to the Consciousness, we realize we are a vital part of this whole Universe, in sustaining the Universe, we are sustained in return. The relation should not be parasitic but symbiotic. So UI World Vision 2030 aims at developing Organic Agriculture. Now we live by the motto, “Live and let live”.
Education by connecting to the Universal Laws: We have heard of the learned scholar travelling in a boat with the boatman and boasting of his education. He repeatedly asks the boatman about his awareness of various subjects and when the boatman pleads ignorance, the scholar tells him how he has wasted some part of his life. Suddenly, there appears a hole in the boat. Now the boatman asks the scholar whether he knows how to swim, but now the scholar pleads ignorance and the boatman before jumping in the water tells him that his whole life is wasted. Doesn’t this story depict the state of current educational system?
The author, Santosh Sharma gives a good example of how a thief could only be a better thief if he were taught how to think laterally. That is what exactly our education system would do. Our education system
is potent to make us ready for the jobs and no more. It does not cater to an individual as a whole human being. It is not holistic in nature. Is it not the reason that we have educated people who are a cause of million dollars scams? Is it not the reason that we have educated people who resort to things like terrorist activities? Our education needs to go deeper; we need to connect to the Universal Laws.

Health through immunity: We all know the hilarious story of the foolish youth who
was sitting on the very branch of a tree; he was chopping off with his axe. When a
passerby told him, he would fall down, he did not give a heed and when he fell down,
he took the passerby as a great seer who could see the future. In the world where the
mind dominates, we are like the youth sitting on the very branch we are chopping
off. We first create our own health problems, with overeating, binging on fast-foods,
indulging in various addictions. When the mind leads, we follow and we abuse our
health and then we have hi-tech hospitals to take care of our health in which we take
pride. We seem to have forgotten the wisdom of the yore, “Prevention is better than
cure” Being Universally Intelligent, when we are led by Consciousness and not the
mind, then we can have a control over our bodies. We won’t abuse them and have more
immunity and strength to ward off diseases. The UI World Vision 2030 is aimed at
achieving this. The focus would be prevention by increasing one’s immunity to diseases
so that we enjoy our health first then we would be really free to enjoy the varied gifts
that world has to offer.
